







The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that people riding in sport utility vehicles were 11 percent more likely to die in an auto accident last year than people riding in cars. The safety gap between S.U.V.'s and passenger cars was at its widest since the NHTSA started tracking annual safety data by vehicle type in 1994.
